Karthik Sundaresan is Principal Architect at CableLabs, responsible for the development and architecture of cable access network technologies. He is the technical lead and contributor to various DOCSIS technology specifications (D3.0, D3.1) and has focused on MAC layer protocols, QoS, Multicast, IPv6, L2VPN and DOCSIS Provisioning of EPON (DPoE) Specifications. He is currently leading the Distributed CCAP Architecture project and also investigating SDN implications for the cable access network.
Previously, he developed hardware designs for MPEG encoders, analog video decoders and DOCSIS cable modem chips at Conexant Systems, and embedded software for telecom networking equipment at Carrier Access. Karthik holds a Bachelor of Engineering and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (University of Colorado, Boulder) and also holds (ISC2) CISSP certifications. He is the past Chair of the IEEE Communications Society, Denver Chapter.
