Peter Slen

Senior Executive Producer

Peter Slen is a Senior Executive Producer at C-SPAN TV. In that capacity, he is responsible for the editorial content of Book TV, C-SPAN's nonfiction book network, and The Communicators series, which looks at the issues of telecommunications and public policy. Formerly, he served for seven years as Executive Producer of C-SPAN's live morning program, Washington Journal, which examines public policy issues, especially legislative issues under debate or being considered by Congress.

Slen works as an on-air host for a variety of C-SPAN programs, including the Washington Journal, The Communicators, Newsmakers, network specials, political conventions, and several book programs, including the monthly series, In-Depth.

He was the 2010-2011 Chairman of the Radio Television Correspondents Association.

Slen joined C-SPAN as a producer in 1993. He has extensive experience covering Congress and politics in particular. He's worked on C-SPAN's political convention coverage since 1996.

Prior to joining C-SPAN, Slen worked for several years as Press Secretary for then-Rep. Christopher Cox, former Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission. He began his time in Washington working in the mailroom for Senator Richard Lugar.

Fiercely proud of his hometown of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Slen is a graduate of St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. A true believer in a well rounded lifestyle, his out of office interests include travel, skiing, tennis, racquetball, watersports and the Washington Redskins. Among other adventures, he has jumped out of airplanes in Hawaii, whitewater rafted in the jungles of Thailand, and danced in the annual Carnival Parade in Rio.
