DINKAR BHAT is a Systems Engineer at ARRIS (formerly Motorola Home) at Horsham, Pennsylvania, where he works on advanced features for set-top boxes with emphasis on audio processing, transcoding, and closed captioning. He received a Ph.D. in Computer Science with specialization in Computer Vision from Columbia University, New York. Prior to that, he obtained his B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, India, and an M.S in Computer Science from the University of Iowa, Iowa City. In the past, he worked as an engineer at Triveni Digital, an LG Electronics Company focusing in the area of stream monitoring and data broadcasting. He has published in major refereed journals and conferences including Proceedings of the IEEE, IEEE Transactions on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition, SMPTE Motion Imaging Journal, NAB Broadcast Engineering Conference, and Proceedings of the IBC. He currently holds six patents in the area of digital television.
